French Embassy supports FULafia on ways of suportiing French Language

The Officials of French Embassy, Abuja visited Federal University Lafia on Monday, June 27, 2016 to explore ways of supporting French Language studies. They also, took the opportunity to enlighten staff and students on the educational opportunities available in France for further studies.


The team, which was made up of Ms. Fanny Dureysseix, French Project Manager and Ms. Saranne Comel, Program Officer of French Higher Education, was received by the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Martin G. Ogbe, on behalf of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Muhammad S. Liman, Prof. Victor S. Dugga, Dean of Arts, Prof. Okwute J. Abah, Head of English and Modern Languages Department and Dr. (Mrs.) Mercy Obeten, Head of French Unit in the Department.

The team undertook facilities tour to the Language laboratory, University Library and the Faculty of Arts Resource Room to ascertain the variety of French instructional and learning materials in the University.

Speaking at the debriefing session in the Dean of Arts office, the Program Officer of French Higher Education Ms. Comel, on behalf of the embassy commended the University for equipping the Language Laboratory with the state of art learning facilities and for the high quality staff to drive the mission of the Institution. She thanked the University for the warm reception given them and assured the Institution of the Embassy’s continued mutual collaboration in supporting standard education in Nigeria.

The visit climaxed with the singing of French National Anthem by students of the French Language in the Department of English and Modern Languages.
